In the 1950s, hell broke loose on Kruggasse in Zurich. The wild guys Richard Kohli, Fred Engelbert Knecht and Friedrich Kuhn lived under one roof in the artists’ house at Kruggasse 4. Across the street was the “Café zum Schwarzen Ring”, which was a meeting place for young people and “half-brats”. The literary and artistic meeting places “Odeon” and “Select” were within walking distance. All in all, a hotspot of creativity and artistic excesses of all kinds. Together with François Viscontini, who runs his mini-gallery at Kruggasse 8, and other contemporary witnesses, we will trace the wild 1950s on Kruggasse and revive the turbulent atmosphere in art, images and language.
